Confined Space Scaffold for Fall Protection at Essity Trafford Park

Scope of Works:

Supplied and installed internal scaffolding within a confined space tank to provide essential fall protection during planned maintenance works. The scaffold was erected inside the tank where machinery had been removed, leaving a significant open void.

Challenges:

The project required entry into a confined space at Essity’s Trafford Park site; a high-risk industrial environment with strict safety protocols. With the internal machinery removed, the tank presented a fall hazard that needed to be controlled before any further work could safely continue. Only trained personnel were permitted to carry out works in such conditions.

Our Solution:

Our confined space-trained operatives safely accessed the tank and erected an internal scaffold designed specifically to serve as a fall protection platform. The scaffold filled the exposed void, creating a stable and secure working surface for the engineers to work.

All works were completed in compliance with confined space regulations, and in close coordination with the client’s on-site safety team. The scaffold enabled maintenance operations to continue safely, with zero incidents and minimal downtime.
