Client: Novus Solutions
Location: University of York
Scope of Works:
Supplied and erected a four-lift scaffold tower with a loading bay and Haki staircase to provide access to the top floor of a university building undergoing refurbishment. The scaffold also supported removal works via a large platform and materials hoist.
Challenges:
The ground floor of the building needed to remain fully operational for university staff and students throughout the project. A key fire escape route ran beneath the scaffold and had to remain clear and accessible at all times. Security was also a priority, given the open campus environment.
Our Solution:
We installed a wide, four-lift scaffold tower with a fully boarded top lift, brick guards, and a secure loading platform. A 500kg materials-only hoist was organised and installed to assist with the removal of waste and delivery of materials.
To ensure uninterrupted access to the fire escape, we constructed a large walkthrough at the base of the scaffold. The base was fully enclosed with ranch board hoarding, and a secure steel gate was fitted at the entrance to the Haki staircase to restrict unauthorised access.
